Commonly being referred to as round kick,
turning kick is a highly powerful kicking technique in Taekwondo. In fact,
almost 60% of techniques used in aTaekwon-Do
championship were turning kicks.
Turning kick has over a dozen variations, each with unique strength and
weakness
that deserve serious attention. For example, there is roundhouse kick
which starts
with the kicking leg traveling in an arc towards the front with the knee
in achambered position. The knee is extended in
the form of a snapping movement for
striking the opponent via the top of the foot.
This book covers the most popular variations of turning kick and
reverse turning kick. We teach you step by step how these kicks can be
thrown effectively and accurately.
Combination kick (in Korean, honhap chagi)
means having two or more kicks executed in succession by both feet. Double
kick (i-jung chagi), on the other hand, means having two kicks of the same
type executed in succession by the same foot and also in the same
direction.
This book showcases combination kicks consisting of different variations
of turning kick, cut down kick, back kick and reverse kick. This book also demonstrates the more advanced 360 and 540 degree
kicks. Do note that these are advanced techniques not really suitable for
beginners.
